Would you and your family know how to escape if a fire started in your home?

If a fire starts while you are asleep, smoke and heat can kill you unless you plan in advance to escape from your bedroom in seconds.

Your Plan Requires:

1. A smoke detector
2. Escape routes marked on a floor plan
3. Family discussion
4. Rehearsal (Do it)

Escape routes - You must have two:

1. Front or back door
2. Bedroom window. [Make sure it works; you may need a special ladder if the window is high up.]

This and other safety messages is what the Oxnard Fire Department teaches elementary school children when they visit the Kids Safety House.
