Would you and your family know how to escape if a fire started in your home?
If a fire starts while you are asleep, smoke and heat can kill you unless you plan in advance to escape from your bedroom in seconds.
Your Plan Requires:
- A smoke detector
- Escape routes marked on a floor plan
- Family discussion
- Rehearsal (Do it)
Escape routes - You must have two:
- Front or back door
- Bedroom window. [Make sure it works; you may need a special ladder if the window is high up.]
This and other safety messages is what the Oxnard Fire Department teaches elementary school children when they visit the Kids Safety House.
